Head Gaskets

Overview

To better protect engines and reduce emissions, Dana uses advanced equipment and manufacturing processes to produce durable, multi-layer steel (MLS) cylinder-head gaskets for light-vehicle engines.

Our MLS cylinder-head gaskets consist of two to five layers of stainless and/or carbon steel to meet specific engine requirements. With macro sealing, differently shaped beads and stoppers and the elastic properties of the spring steel provide the necessary line pressure around the combustion chamber, while the micro sealing function of these MLS gaskets is provided by partial or full-surface elastomer coatings that fill in surface roughnesses.

Key Features

  • Adaptive fluoroelastomer (FKM) coating flows to seal rougher surface finishes
  • Embossment shapes designed to improve durability
  • Stopper layer can be designed with topography to optimize load balance
  • Reduces oil consumption and bore distortion
